Cedar City School

"Sifu" David Pangan

"Jo Gau" Allen Higby

 


 

David Pangan served in the United States Army as an Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division. Additionally he has worked with mentally handicapped and hearing impaired individuals. He also has experience in the security profession protecting individuals and property.  David is a certified Emergency Medical Technician and a Combat Medic.  

David has been a personal student of Master Ron Heimberger  since 1992.  He is completely dedicated to mastering Wing Chun and has never had a desire to try other martial arts.  He teaches public classes, women's workshops, and has assisted Master Heimberger with several  intensive seminars. He also teaches an accredited course at Southern Utah University. He is Chief Instructor of the Cedar City branch of the Wing Chun Kung Fu Council as well as the school in St. George.

Allen Higby works at the Southwest Educational Development Center in Cedar City, Utah, as a School Psychlogist.  He is an instructor at the Cedar City and St. George schools.  Allen has always wanted to learn Wing Chun Kung Fu from the correct lineage and has had no interest in learning any other martial art.

Logan School

"Gau Lin" Jim Poulsen

 


 

Instructor Jim Poulsen Jim Poulsen  Jim began his Wing Chun training in 1996.  He became a certified instructor in the Wing Chun Kung Fu Council in May of 2000.  He has been teaching classes in Logan for two years.  

Jim's interest including hunting and shooting sports.  His is presently working towards several national and state certifications in tactical and defensive handgun training.  He is also training in long range rifle marksmanship with local law enforcement.  Jim also is involved in working with community groups teaching self-defense courses and risk reductions training.  As a certified EMT-B he also works as a first responder.  

Living in Cache Valley affords Jim many of the things he loves most.  He and his wife and his two children love the outdoors, and the small town atmosphere.  Jims goal is to teach Wing Chun, and to bring its goodness to as many people as possible.

Carlos Colorado is a native of Mexico City, where he lived until he moved to Orem, Utah in 1985.  Carlos began his training in Wing Chun directly under Sifu, Master Ron Heimberger, and has been training exclusively with him ever since.  He considers himself blessed to be a personal student of Master Heimberger, and to be part of a great Wing Chun family.  Carlos is currently the Chief Instructor at Master Heimberger's personal school in Orem, where he teaches full-time.

In addition to teaching students, Carlos is responsible for hand crafting the long poles and wooden dummies endorsed by the Wing Chun Kung Fu Council.  He is also responsible for the logistics and other administrative aspects of the Wing Chun Kung Fu Council's annual Summer Camp.

In addition to living in Mexico City and Utah, Carlos has also lived in Arkansas and Missouri where he taught for two years.  He has a fascination with ancient cultures and has extensively studied the ancient pre-Hispanic cultures of Latin America, including the Aztec and Mayan Empires.  He is fluent in both Spanish and English, and is often called upon to translate documents, speakers, and conversations.  He also is responsible for the Spanish translations of the articles found in the website.  With his bilingual talent , he has rendered much help in various English as a Second Language efforts as both aid and instructor.

Leeonna Johnson began her Wing Chun training under Master Heimberger at the age of sixteen. In addition to teaching adults, she also teaches the children's classes at the Orem School, and has taught students of all ages to protect themselves in any attack situation.

She is a poet, author, and journalist. 

Her extensive studies include Medieval literature, and many different ancient cultures.

Toney Stafford  was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and currently lives in the Orem area.  He was an Honor Roll Student throughout High School and College. An athlete and Track and Cross Country Team Captain, he competed in many State Championships including placing 6th at the Western United States Simplot Indoor Track Meet in the 3200 meters.  He has traveled extensively through Europe and South America, including an extended period of time in Brazil studying the language and culture.  He speaks Portuguese fluently and has a working knowledge of Spanish.  Throughout his life he has enjoyed hiking, camping, shooting, and studying.

Toney has been interested in Martial Arts from a young age, having dabbled in Boxing and Ed Parker Kenpo.  He was blessed to meet Master Heimberger several years ago and has been exclusively training in Wing Chun ever since.  He has attended many workshops, seminars and summer camps with Master Heimberger, and to touch hands with Grandmaster Ip Ching.  He received his instructor certification from Master Heimberger.

Brian Christian was born in New Hampshire and moved to Utah where he now lives in Orem with his wife and two children. He has traveled extensively throughout Asia serving in the US Navy on board the USS Enterprise visiting Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand. He teaches at the WCKFC Orem school and is a student of Master Ron Heimberger.

Tom Stafford was born and raised in the Salt Lake City area.  Attended a local high school were he excelled into the top 5% of the nation in science.  Having been raised in Utah he loved spending time outdoors. Tom is an experienced woodsman and spent 2 years teaching wilderness survival skills to youth groups.  Today he still enjoys camping and hiking as much as he can.  Tom was introduced to Wing Chun Kung Fu by his two older brothers and soon after it became a major part of his life.  He has attended many seminars, workshops and camps over his years of training. He is a student of Master Heimberger.

Salt Lake City School

Jon Nielson has been studying Wing Chun since late 1980.  After dabbling in several martial arts styles, Jon was introduced to Wing Chun by Jerry Gardner, a student of Duncan Lueng.  When Jerry left Utah, Jon continued his training under instructors from several different Wing Chun lines including Kenneth Chung, William Cheung and Leung Ting.  He finally found the quality of Wing Chun he was looking for in 1990 under Ron Heimberger in the Wing Chun Kung Fu Council.

Jon has taught and studied Wing Chun in Thailand, Spain and Mexico.  He has served the Council as Annual Student Seminar Coordinator, Instructor Course Developer, Assistant Curriculum Developer, President of the BYU Wing Chun Club, Council Executive Vice- President and Advisor to Spain.  Currently Jon serves as Chief Instructor at the Wing Chun Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Damon Nielson began learning Wing Chun in 1994 under Sifu Nielson. Damon is an assistant instructor under Sifu Nielson. He has administered a branch of the Council in North Orem and supervises a Wing Chun study group in Roosevelt, Utah. Damon’s training experience also includes acting as assistant instructor in numerous seminars with Master Heimberger and Grandmaster Ip Ching. Damon accompanied Sifu Nielson to Hong Kong to train with Grandmaster Ip Ching.

Though Logan Williams has studied various martial arts in the past, including White Crane Kung Fu, Bujinkan Ninpo Taujutsu, and Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate, Jong-Gao-Lin Logan has dedicated himself exclusively to Wing Chun Kung Fu since 1995, finding the logic and simplicity of the style superior to anything previously known. Since becoming a certified instructor in 2000, he has taught at the Salt Lake school, including monthly combat application classes (fight class). In addition, he has assisted Master Heimberger and Sifu Nielson in numerous combat seminars, demonstrations, and Defense For Life activities. He is also responsible for training the demonstration team, who provide various Wing Chun demos in the Salt Lake Area. In addition to Kung Fu, Logan also holds two bachelors degrees in electrical engineering and physics, and enjoys hobbies such as shooting, hunting, sailing, pencil drawing, and the guitar.

Mike Abdo trained with Master Heimberger from 1993 to 2000. Since that time, he has been training under Sifu Nielson. He has extensive training in Wing Chun including being present in every summer camp from 1993 to 2000 and running his own school in Colorado from 1996 to 2000.
