Thoughts on Chi Sau
by Jo-Gau Nello Neri

Personally, I prefer Chi-Sau. I believe
that it is the exercise that best allows you to establish a feeling with the
partner. Helping you to feel all the movements of the other person through
the arms. Developing, thus, a better (and indispensable) capacity to
contract and to relax the muscles necessary to understand the exact moment to
attack or when the moment to yield and attack again. Strengthening equilibrium,
stability, sensitivity, and timing are all important aspects of Chi Sau.
Through this training I become more convinced that every session of Wing Chun
should be studied as if it were the last, with commitment, and passion, but
above all else, with respect and feeling toward your Si-Fu.
