“Tsze-hsia said, He who from day to day recognizes what he has not yet, and from month to month does not forget what he has attained to, may be said to love to learn.”
                                                                                                                 Confucius

Wing Chun is beautiful.  For unlike many martial arts, Wing Chun breathes and lives and changes.  It opens a person instead of closing one off with “what if ” questions. Questions that are full of fear and doubt.  Instead, Wing Chun opens the mind with faith and endless possibilities.

“Things that are done, it is needless to speak about; Things that have had their course, it is needless to remonstrate about; things that are past, it is needless to blame.”
                                                                                                                    Confucius

When one enters the study of Wing Chun, it is challenging.  Asking you to do many things that seem hard and impossible.  But it also gives you the gift of creativity.  The principles allow for life.  One is not stuck in doing one technique or another.  Wing Chun allows for intelligence instead of one-mindedness, individuals instead of sheep.  Wing Chun is principle based.  Therefore it is full of truth.

Truth is something that cannot be ignored, and go away.  It is always there.  Truth, as well, is a living, breathing entity.  One that if turned away from will come back and destroy you.

No matter how far along in Wing Chun you are, you are endowed with certain truths.  From the first day, we teach you things that cannot be false.  That is one of the reasons that you are here, I am assuming.  Therefore, one needs to live by those truths, and by doing that, many more truths will come.  We, as human beings have been given minds and hearts.  We have been given the ability to make decisions for ourselves and live by those decisions.  We are able to learn and to expand our minds and better ourselves. We are able to become creative beings that can do anything that we choose. We do not have to stand and watch as things pass us by.  We are living, breathing and changing creatures.   We have the ability to “become” whatever it is that we seek after.  We may be benevolent, virtuous and wise, or damned, evil and ignorant.  Wing Chun allows an opportunity to become the first, and if ignored will allow for the latter.

With the opportunity that truth allows us to become whatever it is we choose to become you must make a choice.  For choosing, allows for progression.

In choosing the truth, we become a responsible and a different people.  People with morals, with virtues, with benevolence and above all, a people of principle.

Again, I say that Wing Chun is beautiful.  It allows for all kinds.  Be true to the principles that you know and do not turn your back on what you know to be right.

“To see what is right and not do it is want of courage.”
Confucius
